HOISINGTON — Mark Allen Ukens, 64, died June 13, 2025. He was born June 25, 1961, in Great Bend, Kan., the son of Kenneth D. and Doris (Gideon) Ukens.  

In 2000 he met Teresa Fehrenbacher and on April 23, 2007, they were married at the Royal Gorge Bridge in Colorado. He was a good husband who wanted to work. Mark worked as a roughneck in the oil fields for many years. Later working for KTS in Great Bend, before deciding to be a handyman of all trades. He loved his dog Defender but called him Lil’man, taking him on truck rides almost everywhere he went. Mark also loved riding his motorcycle. 

He is survived by his wife Teresa Ukens of the home; six children including, Mark Bryant Jr. of Hays, and Kristina Tittle of Wichita, Nicholas Schwerdtfeger of Great Bend, Nichelle Holinde of Great Bend, and Destiny Kinsey of Wichita; siblings, Eugene Ragan of Russell, Randy Weaver of Great Bend, Lorinda Hines of Wamego, DeEtta Komarek of Florrisant, Colo., Kelly Smally of Mississippi, Sherry Schaffer of Aberdeen, Maryland and Dean Wood from Larned, Kan.; aunt, Beverly Juergensen of Great Bend; and many grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Ukens and mother, Doris Gillis; and an uncle, Allen Uken.

Memorial service will be 10 a.m., Friday, June 20th, 2025, at Hoisington Bible Church with Pastor Roland Broader presiding.
