SPRINGFIELD, Mo. formerly of HOISINGTON — Michael Slous, 63, of Springfield, Mo., passed away on Feb. 5th and entered God’s kingdom. He passed away at home, surrounded by his loved ones.

Mike was born in Hoisington, Kan., on March 13th, 1960. He was a loving brother to Susan Slous of Springfield, Mo., Danny and Heather Slous of Salida, Colo., Doug Slous of Springfield, Mo., Nita Slous Brack of Springfield, Mo., Scott and Karen Slous of Mount Vernon, Ill., and Robert and Tracey Slous of Branson, Mo. He is survived by his daughter, Brittany Tackett, and four cherished grandchildren, Stacy, Beo, Araya, and Koda. Mike will be dearly missed by his many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews, who affectionately called him “Gruncle Mike,” as well as his faithful furbuddy, Rambo.

Mike was predeceased by his parents, Bill and Rita Slous of Springfield, Mo.; and his brother, Mark Slous of Hoisington, Kan.

After graduating high school, Mike worked in the oilfields of central Kansas. He had a passion for cars and mechanics. His life’s journey led him to the Ozarks region of Springfield, Mo., where he worked in construction, eventually becoming a general contractor. His interest in mechanics led him to the electronics industry, and later, to a position as North American Projects Manager for a company installing MRI systems in hospitals. He led teams in the installation of this technology.

Mike’s greatest joys were hearing “Daddy” and “Papaw,” and he deeply loved his daughter and grandchildren.

Family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 3 p.m., Friday, May 23, 2025, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home Chapel, with Father Warren Stecklein presiding. Inurnment will follow in Hoisington Cemetery.
