KINSLEY — Nancy L. Barnes, 71, passed away July 15, 2025 at Medicalodges of Kinsley.

She was born Oct. 20, 1953 in Larned, the daughter of John Allan and Ida Neill Boitnott Balman.

A lifetime Pawnee and Edwards County resident, she was a farmwife and enjoyed working with the livestock, horses, and cattle. Later in life she loved taking care of her cattle and attending American Legion events. For the last 50 years she was a member of The Walter S. Chears American Legion Post 106 Auxiliary and previously served many years as their president.

On Oct. 30, 1978 she married Randolph S. Barnes at Larned; he survives.

Other survivors include brother, Michael Browne, Alamogordo, New Mexico; two sisters, Kathryn Browne, Alamogordo, New Mexico, Mary Lynn (Stanley) Balman Gargas, Show Low, Ariz.; three nieces and nephews, Jordan Lee (Judi) Browne, Monrovia, Calif., Kale (Samuel) Balman Rovner, Surprise, Ari., Tave (Thomas) Balman Ochoa, Twentynine Palms, Calif.

Cremation has taken place and private family services will be at a later date. Memorials may be given to Walter S.
