ALEXANDER — Phyllis Dee Wright, 88, of Alexander, Kan., passed on May 30, 2025, in Chanute, Kan. She was born March 9, 1937, to Etta (Williams) and John Seltmann. A graduate of Alexander High School’s class of 1955, Phyllis married her high school sweetheart, Loren Wright on Sept. 4 of the same year. Together, they raised three children, Robin, Wanda and Bradley. 

Phyllis and Loren lived in Hoisington after marriage for a short time before they returned to Alexander when Loren started farming and Phyllis became a dedicated farmer’s wife, embracing all that role entailed. Her life’s work was on the farm as she was an integral part of making their farming operation successful. Her days entailed raising their children, driving tractor, pulling anhydrous tanks, checking cattle, providing meals, and other jobs as needed, as well as business manager and bookkeeper. Outside their work on the farm, Phyllis and Loren enjoyed traveling, often to Mexico and Panama. They were members of the EAA, Experimental Aviation Association, Great Bend, and enjoyed attending meetings and hosting at the farm. They even flew their private plane to Alaska with this group. 

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband Loren and children Robin Misegadis and Bradley Wright.

She is survived by her daughter,  Wanda (John) Gard. son-in-law, Todd Misegadis; grandchildren, Jason (Danielle) Misegadis, Jarren (Meredith) Gard and Taylor (Devon) Crabree; great-grandchildren, Chellsea, Hailey, Emilia, Lennox, Walker, Watson, Wells with another on the way; as well as two great-great-grandchildren. 

Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30a.m., Thursday, June 5, 2025 at Janousek Funeral Home, 719 Pine St., La Crosse, KS 67548. Graveside services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, June 5 at Belle Prairie Cemetery, Aleander, Kan. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Sunflower Diversified Services, Great Bend or Harry Hynes Hospice, Chanute.
