Phyllis Kay Bosley

Phyllis Kay Bosley, 85, passed away Nov. 25, 2024, at Harry Hynes Inpatient Unit in Wichita, Kan. surrounded by loved ones. She was born May 17, 1939, to Glen and Pearl (White) Bantam in El Dorado Township, Harlan County, Neb. Phyllis married her high school sweetheart, Howard Bosley on Aug. 24, 1958, in Orleans, Neb. Howard preceded her in death, passing away in May of 2022.

Coming from communities in Nebraska and Kansas, Phyllis was a Great Bend resident since the early 1970s. She graduated from Orleans High School. She believed in a life of servant leadership and was active in her community; a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Great Bend and Ellsworth where she served on many committees throughout her life and was there for anyone in that community. She was a member of the P.E.O. sisterhood. Phyllis was an avid quilter and enjoyed showing and sharing her quilts with others. Many of her quilts were shared projects with her mother, Pearl, and mother-in-law, Helen. 

Survivors include three sons, Gene (Cindy) Bosley, Robert (Tammy) Bosley, Eric (Jennifer) Bosley; 11 grandchildren, Brandon (Bree), Melanie, Chancelor, Layne, Wright, Shane, Wynn, Hope, Andrew, Grant, and William Bosley; great granddaughter, Scarlett Bosley; two step-granddaughters, Ashley Smith and Mallory (Austin) Case; and four step-greatgrandchildren, Emma Stroda, Kade Benedict, Carter Case, and Apollo Smith. She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Christina Bosley Whitley; brother, Roger Bantam; sisters, Nadine Condello and Edith Hopson; brother and sister-in law, Leslie (Norma) Bosley; niece, Lynn Steffens; and nephew Everett Fidler.

Also surviving are Phyllis’ family members and their respective families; brothers, Ernest (Vickie) Bantam, Spearfish, S.D., Tony (Rita) Bantam, Woodbine, Iowa, Douglas (Julie) Bantam, Lincoln, Neb., Eddy (Jolene) Bantam, Shenandoah, Iowa, and Roger (D) and Jan Bantam of Oxford, Neb.; sisters, Lela (Craig) Fidler, Grand Island, Neb., Merry (Rick) Jessup of Logan, Kan.; brothers-in-law, Frank Condello of Lincoln, Neb., Clark Hopson of Phillipsburg; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m., Dec. 14, 2024, at the First Presbyterian Church of Great Bend, with Becky Gillette presiding. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to First Presbyterian Church, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Road, Great Bend, KS  67530.
