LAWRENCE — Suzanne D. Miller Grizzell, 88, of Lawrence, Kan. passed away on Dec. 5, 2025 at Bridge Haven memory care community residence in Lawrence. 

Funeral Services are set for Saturday Dec. 13, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at 310 Main St. Claflin, KS 67525

Suzanne was born on Oct. 20, 1937, in Great Bend, Kan. to Albert W. and Dorothy O.(Bunt) Miller. Sue grew up in Claflin, Kan. and married her Claflin Wildcat sweetheart Ken Grizzell on March 30, 1959. As part of the Miller family in Claflin, she always enjoyed coming home to visit and spending time with her extended family. After high school “Sudy” and Ken attended Fort Hays State where she got her Bachelors degree in Education. Suzanne’s years of teaching were in Wichita, Lincoln, Neb., Edwardsville Ill., and culminated in Vermillion, S.D. where she completed her Masters degree in Education at the University of South Dakota while teaching at Jolley elementary school. Her daughter Lisa was born in 1962 in Omaha. Sue took some time off from education to be a stay at home mom. In 1998 Sue and Ken both retired from teaching and moved to Lawrence, Kan., to be close to Lisa and her family.

Suzanne became a devoted grandmother who found joy in everything that involved spending time and helping to raise her three grandchildren. Rides to and from school, games, activities, walks, attending Lawrence High basketball and soccer games and everything in between! She was a spectacular grandma and a fixture within her grandkids lives and was known for her laughter and also trying to keep Ken in the loop about everything kid related  a bigger job than you might think). All of Lisa’s family benefitted from Sue’s tremendous spirit and cheerful personality. Her answer was always “Yes! I will be there!” Her dog Tinker was a special joy to her.

Preceding her in death were her parents; sister Nancy Hoffman, Claflin; brother Mike Miller, Oklahoma; and her husband of 60 years Ken of Lawrence. Survivors include her daughter Lisa (Chris) Davis; grandchildren Bobby Davis (Jessica), Carly Davis, DJ Davis; and great grand-daughter Logan Rae Davis, all of Lawrence.

The family suggests memorials in Suzanne’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary 120 W 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
