HOISINGTON  —Troy A. Davis, 55, died May 16, 2025, at Hays Medical Center. He was born July 19, 1969, the son of Albert E. and Zita Ann (Kisner) Davis. Troy graduated from Hoisington High School in 1987.

A resident of Hoisington and formerly of Bushton, Troy was a man of many skills. He had farmed, worked as a roughneck in the oil fields, and for Asplundh Tree Experts. 

In 1996 he married Joni Salyers and they were blessed with two children, Katanna and Jed. They later divorced.

Troy was baptized and confirmed in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Hoisington. He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved to fish and hunt. Especially alongside his beloved hunting dogs, Jesse, Tina, and Copper. He was a loving father who was known to be up for anything at a moment’s notice.

He is survived by his father, Albert Davis of Hoisington; daughter, Katanna Davis of Stillwater, Oklahoma; son, Jed Davis and wife Tiffany of Great Bend; brothers, Kelly Davis and wife Sandra of Great Bend and Keith Davis of Hoisington; numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Zita Ann Davis.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 30, 2025, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home Chapel, with Father Warren Stecklein presiding.  Inurnment will follow in St. John Catholic Cemetery, Hoisington.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Troy Davis Memorial Fund in care of Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, PO Box 146, Hoisington, KS 67544.
