Trump’s ‘own morality’ questioned
Public Forum.jpg

To the editor:

After recent events an interviewer asked President Trump if there were any limits to his power. His chilling response was “My own morality. My own mind. It’s the only thing that can stop me.” He went on to say that if the Supreme Court ruled against him on the tariffs that ruined the soybean, milo and wheat markets he would simply call them licenses. And he also said he had the right on his own any time to invoke the Insurrection Act.

This “own morality” pardoned a Honduran president convicted by a United States jury of facilitating the introduction of over 400 tons of cocaine into the United States. This “own morality” blames Ukraine for their invasion by Putin’s Russia. This “own morality” asks us not to believe our own eyes when he says that the woman killed in Minneapolis “violently, willfully, & viciously ran over the ICE officer” and “It is hard to believe he is alive.” Or not to believe our own eyes about what happened at the Capital on Jan. 6th, 2021.

This “own morality” shouts that media organizations that in any way criticize him should lose their licenses. This “own morality” withholds federal funds from states that did not support him in the last election. This “own morality” has increased the Trump family wealth by over $5 billion in less that a year in office.

And what do we hear from the Republican senators and representatives from Kansas about this “own morality” or any of the other outrageous acts of the president? Crickets! By their silence is acquiescence and inaction is enabling they have given us this “own morality.”

Meanwhile, less than 1% of the Epstein files have been released. (All of them were to have been released by Dec. 19). Of those few released, they were redacted to protect Trump and his billionaire buddies and un-redacted to release the names of victims without getting their consent to do so.
