WICHITA — Four Barton wrestlers earned victories as the Cougars finished 7-17 in the Kansas Newman Jet Open Saturday.
Twelve colleges featuring programs at the NCAA Division I, Division II, NAIA and NJCAA level competed.
Leading the Barton lineup was Nathan Agudzi-Addo going 3-2 on the day in the 285-division. The sophomore opened his day producing the first of his two falls on the day beating the opening period buzzer with a 2:58 pin over Newman University's Rio Gomez.
Dropping to the backside following a 20-8 major decision to Northeast Oklahoma's Jude Beers in the quarterfinals, the sophomore recovered on the backside over teammate Logan Buchanan producing a 54-second back flattening. Notching a 21-3 tech-fall over Newman University's Erik Tomanek, Agudzi-Addo's day would end in the consolation semifinals dropping an 11-1 major decision to Marcel Gonzalez of Pratt.
Dropping his opening 149-division bout to the eventual champion, Colin Little went 2-0 in the rest of his bouts with a pair of second period falls before a medical forfeit.
Picking up a victory each was Kaden Foster (157), Buchanan (285), and wrestling unattached Matthew Cook (149).
The Cougars compete at Miami, Okla. and will wrestle Cowley and Neosho Jan. 16.
