Bat Cats roll past Haysville Aviators, 15-2

BAT CATS 15, HAYSVILLE 2 — Great Bend converted three errors, two walks and a hit batter into a 9-run first inning to coast past the Haysville Aviators Monday.

Bat Cats pitcher Carson Umphres (4-1, 1.91 ERA) pitched 41/3 shutout innings with eight strikeouts after entering with  12-2 lead. 

Shaw ripped a 2-run double. Tony Moore and J.J. Fontana hit 2-run singles and Caleb Cowan delivered an RBI single in the 9-run first inning. 

Kyle Walker and Shaw (.318) scored on Moore's single. Tyler Clementz scored on an error. Moore scored on Cowan's single. Fontana's single scored Luke Nohinek (.365) and Cowan. Fontana scored on a wild pitch. Peanut Brazzle (.362) and Walker scored on Shaw's double. 

Two Haysville errors led to a 3-run Bat Cats third inning. Cowan scored on Fontana's misplayed bunt. Fontana scored on Brazzle's groundout. Walker scored on a wild pitch for a 12-2 lead.

In a 3-run sixth inning, Nohinek scored on Fontana's single. Cowan and Fontana scored on wild pitches for a 15-2 lead.

Haysville's Owen Rush and Braden Horn drove home runs.
