Vivian Onugha's record-breaking rebound performance sparked the Barton Cougar women past Fort Hays Tech Northwest 71-47 in Wednesday's Jayhawk League basketball game.
Onugha grabbed 15 second half boards and finished with 26 rebounds. She broke Barton's single game rebound record of 25 set by Taylor Regan.
Onugha's breakdown consisted of 10 offensive rebounds leading to 17 points, ten in the final half in notching her 11th double-double of the season and 24th of her career.
Brittany Simpson led the Cougars with 18 points and seven rebounds. Regina Donanu netted 14 points with four assists, Alaina Eck with 11 points and a team leading four of the team's 16 steals. Keyona Hall contributed 10 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals.
The Tigers' Dekeira Clay led all scorers with 21 points with team highs of six steals and four assists. Al'asia Brown finished with nine points.
The winless Tigers played an inspired and pesky first half, leading by four after the first frame in holding off the Cougars in leading 27-25 at the halftime break.
Barton shook off 24% first-half shooting with 56% second half shooting to outscore the Tigers in outscoring the Tigers 56-20.
The Cougars (6-9, 2-7 Jayhawk) dropped Fort Hays Tech to 0-10 in league and 0-14. The Cougars travel to Colby Saturday.
