Dropping game one 4-0, the No. 23 ranked Barton Community College baseball team bounced back with a 2-1 comeback victory on Tuesday afternoon at Lawson-Biggs Field splitting its doubleheader with Rose State College.
Splitting the season's home-and-away series, the Cougars sit at 18-6 overall while the results leave the Raiders at 11-17 on the season.
Held in check over the 14-innings, the Cougar offense managed just eight hits with both runs coming in the nightcap from Wyatt Yetter's game tying bases loaded walk in the fourth and go-ahead two-out RBI single in the bottom of the sixth.
Sharing team high honors with two-hits apiece was Cesar Gomez game one 2-for-2 performance and Hunter Alvord's 2-for-6 day at the plate over the pair of contests.
Two-way player Landon Haines tossed a scoreless fifth inning in the opener permitting just one hit before generating Barton's only extra base hit in the nightcap creating the go-ahead run with a one-out double in the bottom of the sixth to finish 1-for-2 at the dish.
As a pitching staff, the Cougars conceded five runs from 13 hits and eight walks over the 14-innings with five strikeouts.
Game one hurler Braden Hauschel (2-1) took his first loss of the season going four innings with two runs allowed on three hits, two walks and tying his career high four strikeouts.
Kiernan Meredith and Cade Kunz followed Haines scoreless fifth tossing the sixth and seventh respectfully with Meredith yielding two runs on two hits while Kunz worked around a bases loaded jam in the seventh following a trio of walks.
Making his second start of the season, Eli Lang settled for a no-decision in game two allowing just one run off six hits with a walk.
Utilizing the bullpen over the final three frames, Andrew McCarthy, Cam Bergstrom and Preston Golden combined for three shutout innings over their one inning of work. Bergstrom notched the victory improving to 2-0 on the year with just a walk allowed while Golden locked down his second save of the season despite scattering a two-out single.
