Cardinals' Merlau places third at Ellsworth

ELLSWORTH – Hoisington’s No. 1 singles Reese Merlau (3-1) defeated Chapman’s Cora Merritt to finish third at Thursday’s Ellsworth Tennis Tournament. The Cardinals scored 21 points to place third.

“Reese Merlau enjoyed a great day playing No. 1 singles,” said Hoisington coach Taylor Smith.

Hoisington’s Claire Crutcher (1-3) lost 8-5 to Phillipsburg’s Gabby Poels for fifth place.
