HILLSBORO — Hoisington/Central Plains swept Halstead 3-2 and 10-0 for a Central Kansas League baseball doubleheader sweep over Halstead Friday. The Cardinals (11-7, 7-7 CKL) drop Halstead to 5-17, 4-12 CKL.

CARDINALS 3, HALSTEAD 2 (G1) — Hoisington's Lane French (3-1) struck out 10 batters to earn a complete-game victory.

The Cardinals led 3-0. French scored on Kaydin Umphrey's groundout. French singled in Brodie Crites. Aiden Hekele scored on Umphrey's groundout.

Halstead's Ben Schulte scored on a wild pitch as the Dragons combined three singles and a walk for two seventh-inning runs. Noah Diehl scored on a groundout. French retired Reese Carmichael to strand the tying runner on base. 

CARDINALS 10, HALSTEAD 0 (G2) — Hoisington's Tyrus Penka (3-1) threw a 3-hit shutout in five innings.

French, Bentley Corbett and Marcus Ingram each drove in two runs. Rhen Galla, Umphrey and Penka also drove in runs.
