Great Bend's All-Western Athletic Carson Umphres delivered a near-perfect debut with three shutout innings and five RBIs in a 13-0 baseball victory over Garden City to open league play.

Umphres (1-0) struck out six batters in 31/3 innings. Daxton Minton and Owen Kaiser finished the 5-inning shutout. 

Koehn Ribordy scored on an error to ignite a 4-run second inning. Slade Mohr scored on a Umphres single. Peyden Oelger scored on an error. Umphres scored on Ian Premer's single.

Oelger's single scored Kaiser and Oelger and Mohr scored on Umphres' double in a 5-run third inning. Minton scored on a passed ball. Trenton Kern scored on a wild pitch.

Umphres' 2-run homer scored Mohr in a f4-run fourth inning. Minton scored on an error. Ribordy scored on Mohr's single.
