HOISINGTON 34, PRATT 8 — The Hoisington Cardinal football team celebrated head coach Zach Baird's birthday with a hard-fought victory.
Hard-running Taylen Morales and C.J. Bryant each scored a pair of touchdowns to spark the Cardinals past Pratt 34-8 in Friday's football season opener.
Morales rushed for a career high 157 yards on 25 carries. Bryant added 122 yards on eight carries, a 15-yard average.
"Taylen is super athletic. He was phenomenal," Baird said. "Good things happen when we give him the football."
Pratt started with the opening score on a 10-yard touchdown and a 2-pointer for an 8-0 lead.
The Cardinals scored the next 34 points started by a 10-yard scoring run by quarterback Mason Martin.
"We played well tonight. I couldn't ask for anything better," Baird said. "We've got talented kids who fight. They executed."
Hoisington's Karson Kinman and Drew Hekele led a stout defense with fumble recoveries.

ELLINWOOD 38, SYRACUSE 0 — Ellinwood back Austin Brack rushed for 185 yards and scored two touchdowns and quarterback Luke Heinz converted a touchdown run and passed to Ty Hammeke for a score in the Eagles' 38-0 opening football victory over Syracuse.
Ellinwood (1-0) led 18-0 at halftime. Heinz scored on a 3-yard run followed by Hosman's 1-yard score and Hammeke's 25-yard scoring reception.
Brack scored on 7- and 12-yard runs and Layton Wirtz added a 3-yard touchdown for a 20-0 second half.

CENTRAL PLAINS 46, MACKSVILLE 0 — Central Plains quarterback Brodie Crites dazzled with three touchdown passes to spark a 46-0 Central Prairie League football victory over Macksville.
Rylan Siemsen caught 20- and 21-yard scoring passes and Teagan Schepmann grabbed an opening 16-yard scoring strike. The Oilers scored after gaining possession at the Mustang 8-yard line and 21-yard lines.
Oiler Richard Stroud rushed for 51 yards and scored on 2- and 8-yard scoring runs. The Oilers ended the game with a safety for a 46-0 victory.

PAWNEE HEIGHTS 70, CHASE 12 — Pawnee Heights Tiger Brynnen Cody scored four touchdowns and Alexis Ibarra converted three scores as the Tigers roared past Chase 70-12 in Friday's 6-man football opener.
Cody scored a pair of touchdowns on misplayed kickoffs by Chase. He scored on a 36-yard pass from Logan Enabit and on an 18-yard run. Enabit opened the scoring with a 28-yard interception return.
Ibarra scored on a 30-yard run, a 56-yard kickoff return and on a 5-yard fumble return.
Chase played inspired football featuring a 6-man roster. Chase's Humberto Rincon scored on a 50-yard kickoff return. Ladyn Hinderliter scored on a 45-yard run.

Brozek rushed for 40 yards and a touchdown and completed 5 of 27 passes, but had three passes intercepted. Kreutzer had 77 yards receiving.
