Ellinwood spikers finish runner-up

ABILENE –  The Ellinwood  High school volleyball team finished with a 21-3 set record and runner-up finish at the Abilene Spiketacukar, a 2-day multi- team tournament at Abilene High School. 

Ellinwood's set losses were to 4A Clay Center and perennial powerhouse 3A Beloit. 

A Kansas PrepDig scout  recognized many of the Eagles as legitimate impact players in the state of Kansas. 

Kyndal Moore was recognized as the “Co-Player” of the tournament. Kennedy Behnke earned first-team honors. Bennett Jacobs, Mette Maxwell and Addi Stickney earned honorable mention accolades. 

"This team has worked extremely hard throughout the school year in season, through club ball and in the weight room and this summer to prepare for the upcoming fall season," said Ellinwood coach Greg Maxwell. "The sky is the limit for this group of girls. They are eager and anxious to continue to work towards their ultimate goals."

Maxwell said Ellinwood's team had high expectations for success against some of the best teams in the state in various classifications. 

"The team and many of the girls played at an extremely high-level," he said. "They continue to gain statewide recognition for their level of play and accomplishments. 

Ellinwood's team will end their summer experience at a team camp at Kearney, Neb. in mid July.
