HILL CITY — Ellinwood's Reagan Wirtz captured a trio of gold medals with a school record in the 100 meters (12.21), winning the 200 meters (25.91) and long jump (18-2) to spark the Eagles at the Hill City track meet. Ellinwood's girls placed runner-up and the Ellinwood boys finished third in a 20-team field. 

Cason Merritt broke the school pole vault record (13-1).

"I loved the way the athletes competed," said Ellinwood coach Jeff Zook. "We got two school records — Cason Merritt, pole vault; Reagan Wirtz, 100. Along the way the kids lit up the PR board and collected numerous top finishes."

Other first-place medalists were Eleanor Joiner, 800 (2:30.48); and Landon Simpson, long jump (21-61/2); and the 400-meter relay (45.32) with Simpson, Logan Broyles, Gabe Martinez,and Dawson Sunderland.
