BELOIT — Ellinwood pitcher Drake Hosman and reliever Cooper Gunn earned a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Beloit to split Monday's baseball doubleheader. Beloit won the nightcap 5-3.

EAGLES 3, BELOIT 2 — Ellinwood's Hosman (3-1) struck out batters and Cooper Gunn recorded four outs to earn a save. Gunn struck out Joel Rexroat to strand the tying and go-ahead runners on base.

Beloit led 1-0 when Paxton Fouts singled home Ashton Bletscher. Ellinwood's Campbell Coleman doubled home Cade Coleman to ignite a 3-run third inning. Drake Hosman scored on a Banks Jacobs groundout. Trace Tudor singled in Campbell Coleman for a 3-1 lead.

Beloit's Alex Laflen scored on Rexroat's fifth-inning sacrifice fly.

BELOIT 5, EAGLES 3 (G2) —  Beloit earned a 5-3 victory behind three pitchers who yielded a combined three runs. Banks Jacobs (0-2) yielded three earned runs.

Ellinwood's Hosman scored on a third-inning error and Cohen Gunn scored on Cooper Gunn's sacrifice fly for a 2-0 lead.

Beloit responded with a 3-run third inning. Kanean Olson scored on a Paxton Fouts single. Bletscher and Fouts scored on groundouts. Beloit added two sixth-inning insurance runs. Jackson Weston and Olson scored on wild pitches.
