LAWRENCE — Great Bend's girls earned a trio of top 20 medals at Saturday's Rim Rock Farms cross country invitational, the site of the 5A state meet.
Great Bend freshman Decorah Schroeter (20:09.21) placed third in the Crimson Division as the highest Kansas finisher.
Sydney Stein (20:39.82) placed 10th and Bella Long (21;02.27) finished 19th. Also counting in the team scores were 136th-place Alyssa Prendergast (25:17.18) and 151st-place Sydney James (25:56.9). The Panthers scored 277 points and placed 10th in the multi-state event.
Great Bend's Brogan Lashley (17:49.45) earned 18th-medalist honors and Tavon Stroup (17:54.94) finished 21st. Also counting were 64th-place Isaac Aldana (18:58.23); 70th-place Noah Kaiser (19:04.86) and 78th-place Sullivan Luttrell (19:08.72). Great Bend finished eighth with 22 points.
ST. JOHN BOYS — Returning 1A state qualifier St. John placed 43rd in a 70-team, 503-runner Blue Division at Rim Rock Farms. Aaden Gonzalez (19:00.47) placed 118th to lead the St. John Tigers.
