Great Bend faces Newton Railers in football playoffs

Great Bend (8-0) will welcome Newton (0-8) Friday for the first round of the 5A state football playoffs.

The Panthers are outscoring teams 461/2 to 11, averaging 190 yards passing and 177 yards rushing per game.

Quarterback Daxton Minton has thrown 18 touchdown passes and 1,395 yards. Conner Holladay has rushed for 496 yards and seven scores.

Ian Premer has 595 yards receiving and 12 touchdowns and Cooper Ohnmacht has 473 yards receiving and four scores.

The Panthers yield 11 points and 232 yards per game.

Premer leads the Western Athletic Conference with six interceptions and Koehn Ribordy has four thefts.

Linebacker Kale Kern has 87 tackles and 12 stops for lost yardage.

Newton quarterback Kolbie Espada has thrown for 1,034 yards and nine touchdowns. He's rushed for 375 yards and two scores. 

Tailback Kingston Henry has rushed for 277 yards. Christian Henderson has three touchdowns and 385 yards receiving.
