SUBETTE — Kinsley/Macksville played its best baseball of the spring, but came up shy with 4-3 and 8-6 setbacks to Sublette. The Coyotes (0-6) managed four base hits in the twin bill.
SUBLETTE 4, KINSLEY 3 (G1) — Sublette's Jeremiah Chubb singled home Bryson Dyck with the seventh-inning game-winner off reliever Joshua Stuckey.
Kinsley starter Woodrow Lancaster was brilliant with 13 strikeouts and no earned runs in a 95-pitch outing. Sublette's Kylar Wiebe, Dyck and Cy Greeson scored unearuned runs.
Kinsley's Alondra Lopez scored a third-inning run on an error. Greeson's double scored Kyla Wiebe and Dyck, who reached on back-to-back third-inning errors. Greeson scored on a passed ball for a 3-1 lead.
Kinsley's Lancaster scored on Kaleb Granger's fifth-inning fly ball. Joey Prieto scored on a seventh-inning error for a 3-3 tie.. Kinsley shortstop and first baseman Ty Clawson turned fifth-inning double play.
SUBLETTE 8, KINSLEY 6 (G2) —Nine Kinsley walks, two hit batters and five errors handed Sublette (2-2) free baserunners and three unearned runs.
Kinsley's Lancaster, Prieto, Clason, Lane Hattrup and Blaine Ybarra each drove in a run. Sublette's Dyck, Greeson, Clubb and Axton Zanghi drove in runs. Sublette scored five fourth-inning runs.
