Cardinals split twin bill

BELOIT — Hoisington/Central Plains split Monday's softball twin bill with Beloit, winning 7-3 and losing 8-4.

CARDINALS 7, BELOIT 3 (G1) — Cardinal pitcher Ellie Crawford (8-4) yielded three runs and delivered a 2-run double to spark Hoisington (14-6).

Crawford's double scored Mackenzie Foulger and Brynn Tarlton. Marly Brewer scored on Gabby Reif's groundout. Claire Crutcher scored on Foulger's groundout.

The Cardinals iced the game with a 3-run seventh inning. Vaughn and Kylie Kempke scored on groundouts and Reif scored on a double steal.

BELOIT 8, CARDINALS 4 (G2) — Beloit's Olivia Wright drove home four runs with three hits to spark the Trojans. McKenna Channel and Ella Manning drove in Beloit runs.

The Cardinals' error led to four unearned runs off pitcher Tarlton (5-2). Gabby Reif drove home two runs with two hits. Crawford's groundout scored Brewer.
