Kinsley splits twin bill

ELLIS — The Kinsley/Macksville Coyotes split a baseball twin bill with Ellis, winning the opener 10-4 and losing 14-4 in the second game. Kinsley (8-2) plays Sylvan-Lucas at home April 24.

KINSLEY 10, ELLIS 4 (G1) — Kendall Grippin delivered four hits and Woodrow Lancaster had three hits as they both drove home three runs in a 10-4 victory. Lancaster struck out 10 batters with no earned runs.

 Grippin singled home Diego Esparza in the first inning. Joshua Stuckey scored on Lancaster's third-inning double. Lancaster scored on Grippin's double for a 3-1 lead.

Joey Preito scored on an error and Esparza scored on Grippin's fourth-inning sacrifice fly for a 5-1 lead. Devin Murrow, Preito and Stuckey scored on errors in a 4-run fifth inning. Lancaster scored on a double steal. Stephan Fernandez scored Kinsley's 10th run on an error.

Ellis' Ben Byers drove in three runs.

ELLIS 14, KINSLEY 4 (G2) — Ellis scored six runs in the third inning and five in the fourth for a 14-4 victory. Ellis scored six unearned runs off four Kinsley errors. Chason Fabrizius drove in three runs. Austin Lopeman and J.J. Lopeman each drove in two runs.

Kinsley's Stuckey scored on Lancaster's first-inning single. Lancaster scored on Parker Burr's third inning sacrifice fly. In a 2-run fourth inning, Stuckey doubled home Preito and Lancaster's single scored Stuckey.
