Larned Indians swept by Colby Eagles

COLBY GIRLS 36, LARNED 35 — After holding Colby scoreless for the final 5:43, Larned's girls had two chances to tie or win a 36-35 non-league basketball showdown against the Eagles Friday.

Colby's leading scorer Kaylee Holzmeister converted a 3-pointer for a 36-30 lead, but Larned shut out the Eagles in the final minutes.

Larned's Brooke Simmons converted 1 of 2 free throws for a 36-35 score with 1:16 left. The Indians turned the ball over on its final possession with 11 seconds left.

Jadyn Crosby led Larned (5-2) with 10 points and Upson added nine points. Holzmeister finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Colby converted 1 of 11 free throws.

COLBY 75, LARNED 51 — Colby's high-scoring Jordan Jones scored a career high 40 points to hit the 1,000-point barrier in a 75-51 non-league basketball victory over the Larned Indians. Colby (5-2) outscored Larned 44-29 after halftime.

Larned's Kylier Greene scored 19 points and Tristan Regan added 12 points.
