KIOWA COUNTY 64, MACKSVILLE 58 — Kiowa County's Jacob Hogan scored 22 points to lead a trio of double figures scorers as the Mavericks outgunned Macksville 64-58 in Monday's Greensburg 1A Division 1 semifinal. Kiowa County (17-4) plays SPIAA rival South Central (18-2) March 8 for a state tourney berth.

Macksville's high-scoring Diego Esparza scored 35 points and drew the Mustangs within 55-53 with two minutes left. Kiowa's Sawyer Campbell scored twice and the Mustangs were unable to secure a key defensive stop in the late going.

The hard-driving Hogan scored 18 second-half points. Campbell scored 19 points and Brock Deterding added 10 points. The Mavericks with five players scoring, hit 26 of 56 field goals.

Hector Gomez scored 14 points, nine in the first quarter on a trio of 3-pointers. Macksville (16-6) hurt its chances with 12 of 22 free throw shooting.
