HAYS — Hays Thomas More Prep held off Ellinwood 6-4 after winning Tuesday's baseball opener 14-4 over the Eagles Tuesday.

MONARCHS 14, ELLINWOOD  4 (G1) — Ellinwood's Cohen Gunn singled in Noah Herrman to invite a 4-run fifth inning. Campbell Coleman singled home Drake Hosman. Trace Tudor's single scored Cohen Gunn and Campbell Coleman.

Monarch Grant Nehls drilled a grand slam first-inning homer. Caden Dinkel drove in three runs. Connor Breit ripped a 2-run second-inning single.

MONARCHS 6, ELLINWOOD 4 (G2) — Ellinwood led 2-0, 3-1 and 4-3 before the Monarchs rallied each time.

Campbell Coleman drove home Hosman with a first-inning groundout. Cohen Gunn scored on Banks Jacobs single for a 2-0 lead. Cohen Gunn scored on Campbell Coleman's third-inning groundout. Cade Coleman scored on Cohen Gunn's fifth-inning single.

Monarch Jacob Seib scored on Ty Schmeidler's first-inning groundout. Schmeidler scored on a third-inning groundout. In Nehls scored on Schmeidler's fourth-inning double. 

Grant Nehls scored on a fifth-inning groundout. Ian Nehls scored on a sixth-inning passed ball. Dinkel doubled home Schmeidler for a 6-4 lead.
