PRATT — When Pratt's Hope Hughes bunted safely the Greenbacks had the bases loaded with the game-winning runner at third base for a moment.
Great Bend catcher Kamryn Koelsch saved the Panthers after fielding Hughes' bunt single. Koelsch faked a throw to first base, then threw out baserunner Mica Stapleton at third base. Panther pitcher Chayla Prendergast retired Madilyn Bolen to end the eighth inning.
Callie Umphres, Alyssa McCauley and Prendergast delivered RBI in a 3-run 10th inning for a hard-fought 7-5 victory over the Greenbacks. Great Bend (6-1) drops Pratt to 0-4.
PANTHERS 7, PRATT 5 (G2) — Prendergast (4-0) threw 152 pitches with 10 strikeouts. She stranded the potential game-winning runner in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings.
Umphres singled home DeShawnna Bryant, McCauley singled home Koelsch. Pinch-runner Heidi Jording scored on Prendergst's groundout for a 7-4 lead.
Pratt's Stapleton doubled and scored on Anaston's Teasley's 10th-inning single. Prendergast retired Addison Sowers, Hughes and Bolen for the victory.
Pratt led 4-2 with a 4-run fourth inning. Stapleton doubled home Savannah Copus. Stapleton scored on a groundball. Bolen's single scored Teasley. Sowers scored on a groundball.
Camdyn Post singled home pitch runner Ava Carter and Kya Behr doubled home Post for a 4-4 tie after five innings. Bryant doubled home Post in the first inning. Post scored on a third-inning error.
PANTHERS 16, PRATT 11 (G1) — Bryant drilled a game-clinching 3-run homer after the Panthers' 12-run lead was sliced to 13-11. Bryant drove home four runs with three hits and three runs scored.
The Panthers led 12-0 on a 9-run second inning and a 3-run third frame. Umphres drove home four runs with three hits. Behr plated three runs with a pair of singles.
Koelsch, McCauley, Denver Ringo and Prendergast drove in runs.
After three shutout innings, Pratt roughed up starter McCauley for seven earned runs and a trio of homers. Pratt's Copus ripped a 2-run and 3-run homer. Sydney Riley hit a 2-run homer.
Stapleton, Sowers and Bolen drove in runs.
