Stroup wins Pre-State race

WICHITA — Great Bend's 5A state champion Cooper Ohnmacht captured the Elite triple jump (46-2) at Wichita State Pre-State Challenge.

Tavon Stroup (9:59.76) captured the 6-4A 3,200 meters and Bella Long (7:42.81) broke the Panther school record in the 2,000-meter girls steeplechase. Long broke the school record by 25 seconds.

Runner-up medals were earned by Karys Leu, 200 meters, 27.27; Ismael Ramirez, 800, 2:01.2; and Allie Gerhart, shot put, 35-51/4.

Third-place finishers were Natalie Daniels, shot put, 32-113/4; and the Panthers' 3,200-meter girls relay (10:22.17) with Long, Kate Welcher, Brooklyn Kelly and Reese Bullard.

Fourth-place finishers were Cassie Ellegood, high jump, 5-0; and Ernan Rodriguez, 300 hurdles, 42.39.
