MCPHERSON — Great Bend's softball team split a pair of games with a 16-2 victory over Manhattan followed by an 11-5 setback to McPherson Tuesday.

MCPHERSON 11, PANTHERS 5 — McPherson (8-0) scored 11 runs off Great Bend's top two pitchers Chayla Prendergast and Braelyn Turner. Addie Herrera drove in three runs. Brook Doile homered. Rylie Whitfield and Ava Rome drove home runs.
Great Bend's Behr doubled home Post in the first inning. Down 10-1, Mazouch homered in the third inning. Koelsch scored on a fourth-inning error. Umphres and McCauley scored on Prendergast's single.
The Panthers yielded eight walks, threw six wild pitches, hit two batters and McPherson bunted safely twice. McPherson parlayed two hit batters, a walk and several wild pitches in a 5-run first inning. Three walks led to a 5-run second inning.
PANTHERS 16, MANHATTAN 2 — Great Bend's Bryant ripped a 3-run homer and drove home five runs. Bryant is batting .647 (11-17) with nine runs and seven RBI.
Great Bend roared to an 8-1 lead after 11/2 innings.
Camdyn Post scored on Behr's double to start a 3-run first inning. Behr scored on a bases-loaded walk. Bryant scored on a McCauley fly ball.
Bryant's 3-run homer scored Post and Behr for an 8-1 lead. Turner and Mazouch scored on passed balls.
