Stafford's Simmons enjoy strong opener

RENO COUNTY 52, STAFFORD 26 

STAFFORD – Stafford quarterback Jacob Simmons completed three touchdown passes and accounted for 355 all-purpose yards in a 52-26 setback to Reno County Homeschool in Saturday's football opener.

Simmons threw for 157 yards, rushed for 92 yards and had 106 yards in kickoff returns. Simmons converted a 2-point run.

Cody Knoche scored on a touchdown run and caught a pair of touchdown passes, including a 40-yard score. Landon Baird caught a 54-yard touchdown aerial and had 86 yards receiving. 

Knoche led the Trojans with four tackles and 13 assists. Dylan Brozek contributed four tackles and 12 assists. Tuff Pope and Damon Van Venrooy each had 10 stops.
