Hesston powers past Cardinals
HESSTON — Hesston's Keagan Shelite busted loose for four homers and 10 RBI to power the Swathers for a 15-6, and 15-3 Central Kansas League baseball doubleheader sweep over Hoisington. Second-place Hesston (9-2, 9-1 CKL) drops Hoisington to 7-5, 3-5 CKL.
HESSTON 15, CARDINALS 6 (G1) — Hoisington's Aiden Hekele ripped a 2-run homer for a 6-6 tie. But Heston scored nine consecutive runs for a 15-6 victory.
Brody Corbett scored on a fourth inning error. Brodie Crites scored on an error and Rhen Galla scored on Lane French's double to start a 5-run fifth inning. Marcus Ingram and French scored on Hekele's 3-run homer.
Hesston's Keagan Shelite drilled a grand slam homer and added a 2-run homer to power the Swathers with six RBI. Levi Flaming hit a 2-run triple and Brody Curran hit a 2-run double.
HESSTON 15, CARDINALS 3 (G2) — After a 3-3 tie, Shelite made the Cardinals pay for pitching to him with two more homers and four RBI for a run-rule victory. Andrew Huxman drove in three runs and Curran had two RBI.
Cardinal French tripled home Galla and Crites in a 3-run third inning. French scored on a double play.
