Western Athletic Champions Cup standings
wac champions cup

Great Bend ranks fifth with 36 points after the fall sports season in the Western Athletic Conference Champions Cup standings. The Panther girls won the WAC cross country title. Football and volleyball finished as WAC runner-up.

Defending champion Garden City (56) leads Hays High (50). Garden City has swept 1o consecutive Champions titles.

The Champions Cup was established in 2008 to recognize the Western Athletic Conference school which finished with the most points earned. The concept of the Champions Cup is to recognize every sport, giving them publicity and recognition as each sport has equal importance with respect to overall points. There are 22 varsity sports offered at most WAC schools.

The conference recognizes an All-Academic team each spring through a sponsorship with Lewis Automotive Group. This partnership with Lewis Automotive has allowed the conference to provide leadership training, as well as an opportunity to promote sportsmanship, leadership, and camaraderie among conference athletes and schools.
