The Great Bend Zoological Society hosted the July 31 Great Bend Chamber Coffee at the zoo and then members stepped outside for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the five-year anniversary of Kansas Pro Wash.
Founded in 2020 by Derik Schneider, Kansas Pro Wash has grown from a small local startup into a trusted provider of high-quality exterior cleaning services for residential and commercial clients. Services include window washing, house washing, fence & deck cleaning and staining, calcium and hard water stain removal, and pool cleaning & maintenance.
Known for its exceptional attention to detail, responsive service, and commitment to exceeding customer expectations, Kansas Pro Wash has earned a loyal customer base throughout Central Kansas.

Chamber announcements
• The Leader’s Lunchroom will be at noon Tuesday, Aug. 5, in the Great Bend Chamber of Commerce Board Room, 1125 Williams St. Bring your lunch for a powerful Leadership Nugget – a bite-sized session designed to help you focus, gain momentum and expand your impact. Leadership Coach Kimberly Becker and Chamber President/CEO Megan Barfield will talk about the ideal work week; how to gain back your time.
• Wednesday is Unlock Your Chamber Benefits, another bring your own lunch event at noon. Learn to use the Chamber’s Member Information Center.
• Happy Girl Flower Shop, 2102 Kansas Ave., started its Flower Bar Fridays this week. Customers can buy a vase or jar for $10 (or a larger one for $20) and choose the flowers to fill it “kind of like a salad bar.” Refills on future Fridays are $5 off.
• Kelly’s Garden Sense, 134 NE 10th Ave., is open again after sustaining storm damage last week. Two greenhouses took some heavy damage during the microburst. “So we’re going to do a dollar table, $5 table,” said Kelly Meier-Moeder. “All of our trees and shrubs are going to be on sale, pretty much, as we’re trying to get all of that out of there so that we can restock for fall.” Staff are there from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.
• Dave Storjohann, general manager of the Great Bend Arby’s, announced two upcoming fundraisers. Tuesday, Aug. 5, will be for the Great Bend High School Panther Parents and the following week, on Aug. 12, the Church of the Nazarene will have one. If someone comes in during a fundraiser and tells the staff the they are supporting the group, 20% of the proceeds from that sale will go to the organization. Any nonprofit or school that wants to do a similar fundraiser is welcome to sign up.
• Sunflower Diversified Service’s 20th Annual Charity Gala is coming up. Early bird price on tickets ends on Aug. 13. The gala is Sept. 13 at the Great Bend Events Center. See the Sunflower Diversified Facebook page.
• Party in the Park is Aug. 9. Most of the fun is free but admission is charged for that night’s concerts at Veterans Park. Wristbands are available for $5 at City Hall and the Front Door Community Center. Admission at the gate is $10 cash.
• The next Chamber Coffee will be at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 7, at Hammeke Electric, 167 U.S. 281, to celebrate their 25th year in business.
