HOISINGTON — Dean Allan Scott, 81, died on June 2, 2026, at Clara Barton Hospital, Hoisington, Kan. Dean was born on March 7, 1945, to Ramon and Pauline (Hoskinson) Scott. Dean was number five of their six children. Dean was born and raised in Hoisington. He served in the United States Navy and was a Vietnam War Veteran. After his service he returned to Hoisington and worked in the oilfields as a driller and retired as the Superintendent of Public Works for the City of the Hoisington. Dean was an avid hunter and fisherman. He, his brothers, and friends enjoyed many fishing trips to the Gulf. Dean was also a skilled woodworker. His talent was short of amazing designing porches, a workout system, and other hobbies that kept him in his shop, creating creature flowerpots, rocking horses, picture frames, trinket shelves, cabinets, fence sitters and more things out of lumber. Planting a “not so big” garden was also something he looked forward to each Spring. He was notorious for saying, “only a few plants” and end up with 27 of one plant. He got so much joy from preparing the soil, to planting, spending hours watering, watching the plants grow, to harvesting the vegetables allowing him to share his crop with family and friends.

Dean married Dianne Crutcher on Dec. 7, 1967. They were married for 22 years. Together they were blessed with three children, Deena, Roxann, and Brian,

On Dec. 21, 1994, he married Donna Garman. They have shared 32 years together blending their lives and families.

Dean is survived by his wife, Donna of the home; daughters, Deena Scott, Hoisington, Kan., and Roxann (Shane) Moore, Spearville, Kan.; step-children, Angie Brown, Wichita, Kan., Becci Pierce, Hoisington, Kan., Nancy Garman, Wichita, Kan., and Gabe (Trudi) Garman, Covington, Okla.; grandchildren, Devyn Moore, Logan Moore, Alexis (Tyson) Wiesner, Taylor (Bailey) Crawford, Alexander Brown, Sydney (Danyl) Crain, Makenzie Marbut, Blake Garman, and Adam Mannie; great-grandchildren, Jaxx, Maxx, and Emersyn Wiesner, Greysen and Oakleigh Crawford, Adrian Brown, A’nyiah Crain, Adeline, Violet and Amiya Garman; brother, Jack Scott; sister-in-law Sue Scott; a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. Dean was preceeded in death by his parents Ramon and Pauline; sister, Ann Blanchard; brothers, Roy Scott, Billy Bob Scott, Kent Scott; his son, Brian Scott; and grandson, Tre’ Lewis Cherry.

Per Dean’s wishes cremation has taken place. Friends may sign the book now until service at the funeral home. Family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday at the funeral home. A Graveside inurnment service will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at Hoisington Cemetery with Ron Bailey presiding and military honors.
