Ramona Lee Dunlap, 94, passed away peacefully at home, Sept. 13, 2026, in Great Bend, Kan. She was born July 10, 1932, in Hastings, Neb. to Fred and Margaret (Fetters) Meddles. She married Richard ‘Dick’ A. Dunlap April 11, 1954, in Hastings. He saved her a seat, in heaven, Sept. 30, 2014.
Ramona lived a “Mary heart in a Martha world” and always found her strength in managing a busy life with God’s guidance. Her fierce love of the Lord pushed her to spread that love to all she encountered. She spent a lifetime studying God’s word and participating in bible studies to further her connection to God. She was a faithful member of Encounter Church and loved her church family immensely. Ramona had a servant’s heart and wanted to help in any way she could. She was well known for making and sharing her infamous cinnamon rolls. She would spend hours laboring, in love, to make 1,000 at Christmas time and, even at times, Halloween. She took much pride dropping off to the recipients and bringing a smile to their face. Ramona worked for Lab Petroleum as a secretary until her retirement. She truly was the matriarch to her amazing legacy left behind in her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Survivors include son, Matthew Dunlap and his wife Cheryl of Wylie, Texas; daughters, Roxana Hale and her husband Bob of Oklahoma City, Okla., Christine Shipman and her husband Earnie of Bowie, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Susan Dunlap Richardson of Indianapolis, Ind. Ramona was preceded in death by her parents; treasured husband of 60 years; son, Kevin Dunlap; granddaughter, Jessica Dunlap; brothers, Donald Meddles, Jackle Meddles; sisters, Luta Oberg, Patricia Davis, Gerry Miller; brothers-in-law, Vern Franklin Dunlap, and Kenneth Wayne Dunlap.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 17, 2026, at Encounter Church with Pastor Jake Newman presiding. Burial will follow at Great Bend Cemetery North.
