CLAFLIN — Wanda Lou Haney, 98, died June 8, 2025, at Rolling Hills Health & Rehabilitation, Wichita, Kan. She was born Aug. 30, 1926, the daughter of Fritz and Lena (Dressler) Eggers. Wanda graduated from Claflin High School in 1944.
On Jan. 16, 1946, she married William “Bill” Haney in Claflin, Kan. They were blessed with two children, Mitch and Karla. They spent 54 years together when he preceded her in death on April 3, 2000.
Wanda grew up and raised her family in Claflin only moving to Great Bend in the last eight years. She was a life member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary #8668, since 1948 of Claflin, the Past President of the 7th District Kansas Authors Club, and was on the board of directors for the Post Rock Opportunities Foundation in Wilson, Kan.
She is survived by a son, Mitch Haney and wife Shawn of Great Bend; a daughter, Karla Brown and husband Lee of Wichita; five grandchildren, Kelsi Ford, Luke Brown, Kaci Wells, Jordan Clark, and Chance Haney; and 11 great grandchildren, Mia, Olivia, and Katelyn Brown, Collin Jewel, Preston and Karlee Ford, Logan Smith, Martin Vogts, Parker Wells, and Kennedy and Stevie Clark. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a sister, Joan Loveland.
Memorial service will be 1 p.m., Thursday, July 3, 2025, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Bill Salmon presiding. Following the memorial service a celebration of Wanda’s life will continue with an informal come and go gathering of family and friends at the Claflin Community Center, as we share in memories and song to celebrate her life.
