To the Editor:
An important election is fast approaching for the city of Great Bend. Among the spots to be filled is the position of mayor. As long-time active members of Great Bend, we want to publicly announce our support for Alan Moeder to be the next mayor of our city.
We believe that there are certain qualities required of any leader, and Alan has proven in his daily life, his business, and his six years on the City Council that he has these attributes. First, in today’s world we believe it is significant that he is non-partisan, so he will take into account the needs of all of Great Bend’s citizens, no matter their age, work status, religion, nationality, or personal affiliations. He wants what’s best for all of Great Bend so that we continue to be a safe and prosperous city that we proudly call home.
Other leadership qualities we have witnessed in Alan are integrity, communication skills, a willingness to “put in the time,” empathy, accountability, the ability to collaborate and delegate, a history of navigating challenges, and a reputation for making sound judgments and decisions. He is a good listener and seeks to motivate and encourage others to express their feelings and concerns. Most importantly to us is that he does not seek self-recognition or glory.
He is aware of his own strengths and weaknesses and only seeks with the input from others to do what will be best for all of Great Bend.
