WICHITA — The Barton Cougars shocked No. 2 ranked Cloud County 11-9 to send the Western Division champion to the losers bracket of the Region 6 baseball tournament.

Barton's Dalton Jorgensen delivered a 2-run game-winning single scored Hayden Oviatt and Micah McGavran in the eighth inning to upset the Thunderbirds.

Barton pitcher Antonio Mendez yielded two runs in seven innings.

The Cougars roared to an 8-0 lead.

Kyle Walker scored on a Kyle Graves first-inning double. McGavran's 3-run third inning homer brought home Kyler Horsman and Rhett Winchester.

J.J. Spafford's perfect bunt single set up a 4-run fifth inning. McGavran scored on Dalton Jorgensen's fly ball. Walker doubled home Spafford and Hayden Oviatt. Walker scored on Carter Helm's single.

Leading 9-2, Cougar relievers Daegan Vinduska, Jake Field and Landon Ritchey were ineffective when nine consecutive Thunderbirds reached base on six hits, two walks and a hit batter.

Vasya Seymour greeted Barton's third reliever Ritchey with an infield single for a 9-7 score. Joey Marino's single drove home Luke Clayton and Nolan Green for a 9-9 tie.
