HILLSBORO — Hoisington/Central Plains' Ellie Crawford drove in five runs in the opener and earned a second-game save for a 16-3 and 6-5 doubleheader Central Kansas League softball sweep over Hillsboro.

CARDINALS 16, HILLSBORO 3 (G1) — Hoisington's Crawford threw four shutout innings with three strikeouts.

Crawford singled home Marly Brewer in the first, Brynn Tarlton and Brewer in the second and Macie Strong and Tarlton in the fourth inning.

Brewer drove in three runs. Tarlton, Brennley Reif and Aubree Martin each drove in one run. The Cardinals scored five unearned runs.

CARDINALS 6, HILLSBORO 5 (G2) — Hoisington built a 6-0 lead, but reliever Crawford threw two shutout innings to preserve a 6-5 victory.

Reese Aylwald scored on Claire Crutcher's sacrifice fly. Brewer scored on a bases-loaded walk. Crawford scored on Aylward's groundout.  Kylie Kempke scored on Mea Sneath's single for a 4-0 lead. Kempke singled in Crawford and Kempke scored on Aylward's double for a 6-0 lead.

Brooklyn Thiessen ripped a run-double and Rylee Voran, Trysta Miller and Cheyanna Plenert delivered RBI singles in a 5-run fifth inning. The Cardinals threw out Makenna Fenske at third base to end the rally.
