HILLSBORO — Hoisington/Central Plains broke a 4-4 tie with a 7-run ninth inning to boost a 11-4 and 10-7 Central Kansas League baseball doubleheader sweep over Hillsboro Friday. The Cardinals (9-7, 5-7 CKL) play Halstead May 2 at home.

CARDINALS 11, HILLSBORO 5 (G1) — Hoisington's Lane French started a 7-run ninth inning with an RBI single. Kaidenn Chambers, Kaydin Umphrey and Rhen Galla followed with RBI singles and Brodie Crites' bases-loaded double scored Tyrus Penka, Brody Corbett and Galla for an 11-4 lead. 

Chambers also drove home three runs. Umphrey threw four shutout innings with seven strikeouts to earn the victory.

Nash Dickinson and Zayne Haslett drove home runs for Hillsboro (5-11, 2-10).

CARDINALS 10, HILLSBORO 7 (G2) — Hoisington's Marcus Ingram delivered four singles with two runs scored and two runs battled in. Penka pitched five innings to earn the win. Galla threw two shutout innings.

Galla, Brody Corbett and French each drove in two runs. Penka and Umphrey each drove in one run.

Hillsboro's Dickinson drove in two runs.
