CLAFLIN — Jeremy Jay Armstrong, 47, died Sept. 20, 2026, at Ascension Via Christi Hospital, Wichita, Kan. He was born Aug. 23, 1979, in Sioux City, Iowa. Jeremy graduated from West High School in 1997 where he was a baseball standout with many professional offers which led him to Iowa State University, pursuing a degree in sports medicine until an injury impacted that career.

He then moved to Denver, Colo., where he met and then married Selena Fitzgerald on Oct. 4, 2002. With this marriage he gained a son, Tyler Williams, and was blessed with his three daughters, Brooke, Ashlyn, and Whitney. They later divorced and he found himself in a long-term relationship with Arica Obermann to which he was blessed with another daughter, Grayson.

Jeremy worked as the general manager for Central Prairie CO-OP and was known as a workaholic but truly loved his job there. He was a sports fanatic with his loyalties to his Cubs and Broncos but was most supportive of the Claflin Oilers and his local community. His girls remember him as a strong and devoted girl dad, although many others would consider him as the town dad. He was always supporting and cheering on everyone and was truly the definition of a helping hand. Jeremy loved the outdoors, especially doing yardwork, but also enjoying time fishing or just grilling on the BBQ.

He is survived by his children, Tyler Williams of Maui, Hawaii, Brooke Armstrong of Madison, Ala., Ashlyn Armstrong of Wichita, Whitney Armstrong, and Grayson Armstrong, both of Claflin; his parents, Dave and Pamela Hackett of Sioux City, Iowa; brothers, Brett Armstrong and Troy Hackett, both of Sioux City, Iowa, Aaron Armstrong and Dustin Armstrong, both of Aurora, Colo.; and sisters, Ashley Hackett and Kayla Griffith, both of Sioux City, Iowa; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Orville and Charlene Ingalls, who had a major role in raising him.

Memorial service will be 3 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, with Pastor John Radenberg presiding. Friends may sign the book now until service there will be no viewing as cremation has taken place. An informal gathering to celebrate his life will follow at the Odin Store.
