ELLINWOOD GIRLS 54, SMITH CENTER 31—The Ellinwood girls coasted past Smith Center 54-31 in the 2A Smith Center basketball substate to qualify for Friday's showdown against Hays Thomas More Prep.
It marks the fourth time in school history the Eagle girls have qualified for a substate championship game.
Ellinwood's Julia Schlessiger and Brynn Widener each scored 13 points. Avery Panning hit a pair of 3-pointers.
Smith Center's Leah McKelvey scored 13 points and Kayln Ifland added 10 points.
