Chase Kats feature three seniors

CHASE — First-year Chase girls basketball coach Angela Holmes will lead the Kats into their first season in the Central Prairie League. Holmes coached the Lyons Middle School girls for four years.

Chase (5-16) earned wins over Western Plains 47-37; Fairfield 42-33 and 45-32; Lincoln 39-30 and Tescott 45-32. Pawnee Heights downed Chase 58-11 at the 1A basketball regional.

Chase will compete without standout Haylee Miller (10 ppg), who sustained a knee injury last season. The Kats feature a trio of seniors — Jersey Meyeres, Aurelia Bowen and Maudie Bowen.

"All of the young ladies are working on their individual skills and talents which are steps in building confidence," Holmes said. "My plan is to make everyone on the team successful in scoring and doing their part on defense. We'll have to work harder to overcome areas where we lack."
