SALINA —Great Bend Panther Kylee Miessler placed eighth and achieved her goal with a 21-over-par 91 Monday to qualify for the 5A state golf championship. Miessler played brilliantly at the Salina golf regional with a trio of pars and a 41 on the front nine at Salina Municipal Golf Course. She struggled on the back nine with a 16-over-par 51.
The Panthers (456) placed sixth by also counting scores by 23rd-place Sammy Fleming (110), 26th-place Keilee Gerhardt (114) and 35th-place Carrie Hunt (141).
Medalist Ximena Sarinana (68) led Wichita Kapaun-Mt. Carmel (292) to the team title.
