Calvary Baptist youth help buy equipment for playground

STAFFORD — Calvary Baptist Church’s Daily Vacation Bible School (DVBS) included a mission project to buy playground equipment for the Haven For Her at the Live Like Jesus Today Ministries in Great Bend.

The church in Stafford reported a record-setting 92 enrollees from age 4 years through sixth graders, along with teachers and helpers for this year’s DVBS.

They contributed almost $4,000 to buy a combination set of slippery slides, monkey bars, and climbing chains, as well as two kinds of swings and a cabin. A basketball was also donated to go along with the portable basketball goal that was also purchased.

Haven for Her is a new LLJT ministry in Great Bend that provides housing for pregnant women and new mothers.

The site had been previously visited and the youths met with the first resident of Haven for Her, who has given birth to twins: a boy and a girl.
