Greetings from the Great Bend Public Library! On Thursday, June 25, we have some more prehistoric fun in store at Dry Lake Brewing with Jurassic Park Trivia. We have some amazing prizes for this summer trivia, so if you are a Jurassic Park fan or just love dinos, this is one you won’t want to miss!

Friday during this week’s Adult Show and Tell, we will be celebrating Militaria as the theme of the next installment of our Adult Show & Tell series, Fridays at 10:30 am. Dust off your metals and see if you can still fit in that uniform because we want to hear your stories. Note: Please do not bring in any living creatures. Staff will not be available to help move items.

Friday afternoon from 3:45 to 4:45 pm, teens can join us for a Racing Royal! Attendees will be able to pick their favorite racers and take them for a spin in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled.

Friday evening at 7 pm, we head back to the Jurassic as part of our Book to Reel Club. You’ve read the book now, see the summer blockbuster hit that everyone was talking about in 1993! Let’s be honest, it’s a cultural phenomenon that we are still talking about today, and you can join us after the movie for a brief conversation about the film and its differences from the book. The doors will be open at 6:45 pm and will close at 7:15 pm, with the film starting at 7 pm. We will have delicious free popcorn for all those who attend, just try not to throw it in the air when the T. rex shows up!

Starting next week, we will be taking a short break from programming for one week so everyone can enjoy the Fourth and take a breath during our summer half-time before all the big second-half hits with tons more events. Even though most events will be on hold, Monday does mark the start of our D.I.Y. BBQ Rub Station. Need to spice up your Fourth of July BBQ? Check out our offerings and make your own BBQ rub. Our station will be up through the 3rd or while supplies last!
