Big Bend Bash returns this Saturday

This Saturday, May 30, Barton County will celebrate the annual Big Bend Bash in downtown Great Bend.

In addition to a patriotic Red, White and Blue parade on Main Street at 10 a.m., there will be a Kids Zone on Lakin Avenue, food truck row, live music and stages, and a popup market with more than 50 vendors.

The Kids Zone will include inflatables, face painting, a boat station, sno cones, yard games and a presentation by Dan Dan the Magic Man.

Saturday is also the date of the 11th annual Big Brew Q in support of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. There will be a Craft Brew Expo in downtown Great Bend, behind Dry Lake Brewing, 1305 Main St., during the Big Bend Bash.

There are also independent biking events, all starting from Lake Barton: a 20-mile road ride, 20-mile gravel ride, and a 40-mile gravel ride.

10-11 a.m. - Red, White & Blue Parade

11 a.m. to 6 p.m. - Vendors and food market. (Vendors market ends at 4 p.m.)

11 a.m. to 3 p.m. - Bike, Brew Q - VIP starts at 11 a.m. and the Brewfest opens at noon. Tickets can be purchased at the door or online at www.bikebrewq.com.

11 a.m. to 6 p.m. - Live music and entertainment on the Forest Stage.

Family Fun Zone on Lakin Ave.

- Bounce Houses (wet and dry) 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

- Dan Dan the Magic Man at 12:30, 1:30, 2:30, 3:30 and 4:30 p.m.

- Face Painting noon to 5 p.m.

- Jumbo Yard Games - 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Friday on Forest

The Bash comes on the heels of the May 29 Fridays on Forest, from 5-10 p.m. in the block in front of the Great Bend Tribune, 2012 Forest Ave. That’s Forest Avenue between Main Street and Williams Street, also known as the Great Bend Alive Plaza. There will be live music, with local food and beverages. The Kids Zone on Friday will also include face painting, games and sidewalk chalk. There will also be a dunk tank. The street will close to through traffic at 1 p.m.

Also on Friday

Friday is also the day for the kickoff of the Summer Reading program at Great Bend Public Library.
