Did you see the lift at the library? We have been waiting for years for the right painter/historical restoration person to agree to paint and repair the trim on the library. John Wood finally said yes!
John and his crew showed up last week to top off our restoration efforts.
They removed the old internet equipment, remade parts of the decorative trim (can you believe some of it is metal not wood) and repainted all the trim, some guttering and the south door.
They really enjoyed being in Stafford! They decided Joan’s must be a good place to eat because of all the pickups in the parking lot. They weren’t disappointed and we were left with the last big project checked off in a beautiful white way.
I have just been informed that a music video has been made to enhance our Summer Reading Program. “Unearthing a Story” by Kim Noller. Kim is a K-4 music teacher in the Maize School District. I had already been impressed with the song she wrote about Unearthing a story. She decided she had to take it a step further and make a music video about the theme. Kim and her father traveled the world collecting artifacts which are now housed in The Museum of World Treasures in Wichita.
Kim decided this was an opportunity to write her father’s story down and develop it into a music video filmed in the Maize School Library and The Museum of World Treasurers in Wichita. Fun times for Summer Reading.
Speaking of Wichita and museums, we have a free ticket to the Wichita Art Museum. It is good for four adults. Just come to the library and check it out then bring it back after your visit.
Our shredder box has been emptied, so we are ready for more documents to be brought in. If you are cleaning your office after doing taxes we have room for your documents that need to be shredded. A free service offered by Larabee LIbrary.
We have many new books at the library thanks to the Golden Belt Foundation. For adults and children - large and regular print.
We have also started a new subscription to the Atlantic magazine. The World politics is changing so quickly we thought this would be a great subscription to have for our “Need To Know” patrons. Come read it on our comfy couch.
