Daniel Lee ‘Danny’ Scott

Daniel Lee ‘Danny’ Scott, 77, passed away July 19, 2026, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kan. He was born on Sept. 10, 1948, in Great Bend, Kan., to Lucille (Gutirrez) and John Zero. On May 8, 1995, he married Margaret Dollar in Joshua Tree, Calif.

A lifetime Great Bend resident, Danny worked in many different fields from restaurant cook to rough neck to landscaping. Prior to joining the work force, Danny proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was baptized Catholic and attended services at the Dream Center. Danny enjoyed tuning pianos, working on cars, watching old westerns, and loved jamming out to music – particularly Elvis. He cherished time spent with family.

Survivors include his wife of the home; son, Daniel Scott, Jr. (Toni) of Otis; two daughters, Lavina Alkire of North Platte, Neb., and Jackie Hamilton of Topeka; two step sons, Robert Bennett of Ellsworth, and Roy Bennett (Christina) of Great Bend; step daughter, Rochelle Bennett of Minnesota; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; two sisters, Laura Fuzzell (David) of Great Bend, and Johnnie Francis (Rick) of Manhattan; brother-in-law, David Hester of Great Bend; five nephews, David Fuzzell, Jr., Clinton Fuzzell, Mitch Fuzzell, John Francis, and Dave Hester, Jr.; and niece, Ricci Francis. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Margaret ‘Maggie’ Hester; and nephew, Michael Paul Hester.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, 2026, at Bryant Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow at Golden Belt Memorial Park, with military honors presented by Fort Riley Honor Guard.
